Going to FDIC International?

We hope to see you there! If you are heading to Indianapolis, we hope you find time after conference hours to explore the city. Here is a list of some of our favorite places in Indy.

Visit the Soldiers and Sailors Monument

This monument is located in the center of downtown on Monument Circle. Climb the stairs or ride the elevator to the observation deck for a 360-degree view of the city skyline from 275 feet up!

Head to the Indianapolis City Market

The Indianapolis City Market first opened in 1886. It’s a popular destination featuring eateries, fresh produce, and retailers. Plus, take a guided tour into the City Market catacombs—a long-hidden ruin beneath City Market’s Whistler Plaza!

Walk along the Downtown Canal

The Downtown Canal Walk is a three-mile loop along the Indiana Central Canal. The Canal Walk is part of the Indiana Central Canal, which was dug in the early 1800s, in an effort to facilitate interstate commerce. Today, the refurbished Canal Walk (stretching north through White River State Park to 11th Street) serves the downtown community as a waterside promenade for walkers, runners, bikers and sightseers (while the canal itself includes a steady stream of pedal boats, which may be rented west of the Indiana State Museum).

Check out the Indiana Medical History Museum

The Indiana Medical History Museum interprets scientific medicine of the 19th and early 20th centuries. It’s housed in the Old Pathology Building, a 19-room facility constructed in 1896 on the grounds of the former Central State Hospital. Visitors say the tour is fascinating, especially for those with a medical background.
